The February That Was.

    Is it me, or did February drag on a bit? It seems to have lasted such a long time this year. Perhaps it's because that despite the mild conditions, it has still been a predominantly grey month and all the days have merged into one long 24hours. Hardly inspiring.

    I did treat myself to a couple of things though that brought a certain amount of joy! Firstly, I went to Hobbycraft armed with a couple of my voucher cards I got for Christmas and came home with a set of Pom-Pom makers! I've been tempted to get these before but have never really been sure, after all back in the day the only option was to cut out rings of cardboard to use, and that worked really well, and still does! I was wondering about getting a pack of Clover ones but these were a lot cheaper and it's a set of 4, not 2. So how good are the Pom-Poms made from them? Let's take a look!

 and I don't think it's too bad! I should point out that my Pom-Poms always turn out more egg shaped than spherical - it must be the way I fill the rings up! I did find it a little fiddly to hold onto the rings and wrap the yarn round them, but I guess that it will become easier with more use.

 

    Secondly, I decided to get something else I'd been wondering about for a while off and on, this time from Amazon. A Yarn Winder!

     I've only used it a few times so far but I am really impressed with the cakes it's making! And I can completely understand how it can become a little addictive!


    I can see this getting a lot of use, even mid-project when your yarn ball starts popping out of the bag! And I'm thinking that for ball remnants it's going to be an absolute must!

    For anyone wondering about my ongoing Granny Square Day project I can tell you that it is currently on hold due to yarn shortage. That and the fact I'm quite tempted to turn the back piece into a blanket or even one of those cocoon cardigan things! Although what I would then do with the squares I made for the front I don't know. So, instead of working on that I'm back on my Yuletide squares having finally made a decision about what to do with them. If I have enough of them. Because at the mo' I ain't got a clue. Ahh, winging it. Don't you just love it?

    You would think that with it being a Sunday, I would have had plenty of opportunities to post my intended Blogtober post. But no. I haven't even touched a computer today until now because there always seemed to be something else to do! And I don't suppose any of it was particularly important. Ever have days like that?     So instead of that post I'm going to do a Sunday Waffle. A quick ramble about the day and anything else that pops into the noggin as I type. Minus the swear words. Blogtober - Post 19! ❓ 🪝 📖 🌵

     Hello! I'd like to start by asking a few questions to those of you who have been using silicon-handled hooks longer than I have.     In the last few days I have notice that the hook I'm using most has developed a weird ickieness to the handle. It's not sticky or rough, just not right. My others don't feel like this. I even washed it the other day and if anything it made it slightly worse.      Could this be a reaction to the hand-cream I use in the evening to lessen the roughness of my fingers? Is there a way of fixing the issue, and is there a best way of storing and caring for this style of hook? Comments and solutions would be most appreciated.😀     I finished reading "The Tears Of The Salamander" Monday night, and tonight I will start reading something else.        Blogtober is upon us And I really have to say, I'm not sure I can manage A new post everyday. Typing here and typing there It can be quite a chore, Finding summat interesting And trying not to bore. What with edit this and copy that And insert image here, It's like reading a crochet pattern Whose instructions aren't quite clear.
