Blogtober - Post 8!

    Another late one from me.

    Today has not been what it was meant to be. For over week now it has been planned that my niece would visit, with her two humans, and we'd have a early birthday lunch for one of them. But, unfortunately they both caught colds of varying ickiness, and the visit was postponed.

    Now, on one hand this shouldn't be much of a problem but it does tend to lead to: "What am I going to do now?" Not much was the answer!

    Having a normal lunchtime meant we could at least watch Pam Ayres travelling around the Cotswolds, and beyond, and that is always an enjoyable 40-odd minutes. We still had the planned meal, Leek and Potato Soup, but at dinner time not lunchtime. Sadly no puddings were consumed, but we did have Cake at 7:30pm while watching "Cowboys Versus Aliens". A very good film which I highly recommend!

    I've just realised, we forgot the Sherry!! Bummer!!

    It's also been a bit of weird day locally. It was so quiet in the morning, barely any traffic and no noise from the neighbours. And it was very still, no breeze. And, if that weren't enough, very few birds in the garden! I did see a larger number in the late afternoon, including a Greater Spotted Woodpecker and a Nuthatch. 

    Oh well, perhaps tomorrow will be slightly more normal? Oh, and we're having a cracking dinner tomorrow too!

    It's always quite disconcerting when plans are disrupted, isn't it? Leek and potato soup is a favourite in our house too, so I'm glad you still got to enjoy that!

    You would think that with it being a Sunday, I would have had plenty of opportunities to post my intended Blogtober post. But no. I haven't even touched a computer today until now because there always seemed to be something else to do! And I don't suppose any of it was particularly important. Ever have days like that?     So instead of that post I'm going to do a Sunday Waffle. A quick ramble about the day and anything else that pops into the noggin as I type. Minus the swear words. Probably.       It was pretty grim when I got up, it looked like it had rained🌧️ all night, but the sun soon came out☀️ and it was bright till about early afternoon when the clouds started gathering. Somewhere across the road someone had lit a garden fire, smoke blowing up the road so at least this time we didn't get the stink of it.🔥     We did have a fab dinner at lunch time! Blogtober - Post 19! ❓ 🪝 📖 🌵

     Hello! I'd like to start by asking a few questions to those of you who have been using silicon-handled hooks longer than I have.     In the last few days I have notice that the hook I'm using most has developed a weird ickieness to the handle. It's not sticky or rough, just not right. My others don't feel like this. I even washed it the other day and if anything it made it slightly worse.      Could this be a reaction to the hand-cream I use in the evening to lessen the roughness of my fingers? Is there a way of fixing the issue, and is there a best way of storing and caring for this style of hook? Comments and solutions would be most appreciated.😀     I finished reading "The Tears Of The Salamander" Monday night, and tonight I will start reading something else. I'm just not sure what yet, it may end up a point and grab situation. Whatever it is I probably won't have read it before and I'll let you know what I choose.      Yesterday I mentio

Blogtober '23 - Day One. 👋😀

       Blogtober is upon us And I really have to say, I'm not sure I can manage A new post everyday. Typing here and typing there It can be quite a chore, Finding summat interesting And trying not to bore. What with edit this and copy that And insert image here, It's like reading a crochet pattern Whose instructions aren't quite clear.
