Blogtober '23 - Day 28.

    It's been a bit of an odd day today. It did rain briefly in the morning, and then it cleared, then it clouded over and rained again! Then, it cleared again! And right now it is raining quite heavily!! At least it put an end to the fireworks.

    Don't you just hate those things? I mean , it's not even Bonfire night yet, and they were so close you could hear the fizzy-crackles on the roof!

    I had Shortbread Fingers with my cup of tea this morning - it's Saturday, what do you expect - and then at lunchtime we had a Crumpet each. We watched the second episode of "A Discovery Of Witches" which is currently being shown on Sky Mix on Freeview. It's not bad actually, so far, but I do wonder if it's all going to get a bit "Twilight"-ish? Know what I mean?

    This evening we watched a film I got for my birthday called "Prince Of Darkness". No, not the Christopher Lee film, but a 1987 film by John Carpenter starring Donald Pleasence and Victor Wong. We hadn't seen it before and I thought it was quite good, a little different to other things, but I'm not sure everyone agreed with me. I found it engaging enough to not need to get my crochet out which I think is quite a good indication of its pace and story.

    The clocks go back tonight. One day I'll get used to it and understand why we bother, and what direction to turn the watch-knob in. I'm never sure which is considered best: clocks going forward or clocks going back? You decide!

    Oh I'm off, time to catch up on other Blogtober posts and my beauty sleep! Not that it'll make much difference!!

    You would think that with it being a Sunday, I would have had plenty of opportunities to post my intended Blogtober post. But no. I haven't even touched a computer today until now because there always seemed to be something else to do! And I don't suppose any of it was particularly important. Ever have days like that?     So instead of that post I'm going to do a Sunday Waffle. A quick ramble about the day and anything else that pops into the noggin as I type. Minus the swear words. Probably.       It was pretty grim when I got up, it looked like it had rained🌧️ all night, but the sun soon came out☀️ and it was bright till about early afternoon when the clouds started gathering. Somewhere across the road someone had lit a garden fire, smoke blowing up the road so at least this time we didn't get the stink of it.🔥     We did have a fab dinner at lunch time! Blogtober - Post 19! ❓ 🪝 📖 🌵

     Hello! I'd like to start by asking a few questions to those of you who have been using silicon-handled hooks longer than I have.     In the last few days I have notice that the hook I'm using most has developed a weird ickieness to the handle. It's not sticky or rough, just not right. My others don't feel like this. I even washed it the other day and if anything it made it slightly worse.      Could this be a reaction to the hand-cream I use in the evening to lessen the roughness of my fingers? Is there a way of fixing the issue, and is there a best way of storing and caring for this style of hook? Comments and solutions would be most appreciated.😀     I finished reading "The Tears Of The Salamander" Monday night, and tonight I will start reading something else. Interlude -Summer.

     I'll be honest, things are not great here at the mo'.       Quite apart from the fact that these last few hot weeks have turned my hands and fingers into wet and clammy nightmares, we've all had Covid. Yeah, after all this time, we finally get the bloody thing. The daft thing is my parents have been getting their boosters - the last one not long ago - whereas I haven't had one since the end of... 2021?, and if anything I fared better and have gotten over it quicker than they have! That's not to say any of us are exactly "right" at all: Mother still sounds like she has a cold, but doesn't, Father still has an awful bloody cough which is driving us all mad, and we're all still quite tired and head-achey.      And then there's the "other stuff" which I'm loath to go into because there really isn't much chance of any of that changing any time soon, if ever, and you never know who might end up reading all this.
