Getting There...

     Blog writing, or at least the thinking of it can be a big preoccupation (yes, I know, I haven’t written that much yet!), and to be honest it has tended to get in the way of doing other things, including crochet! Trying to understand how all the various settings work is also quite time consuming, and confusing, and I’m sure I’m not fully up to speed with it yet, but hopefully I’ll get there in the end. At least I’m now happy with the blog’s appearance!😄

After my first post, I was thrown quite a bit by an announcement in the dashboard area (behind the scenes as it were) that the Follow By Email gadget is going to stop working in July. What I didn’t know at the time is that is a separate thing to the Follow Button and, as far as I know, that’s not going anywhere, so I’ve now put that gadget on the blog, left-hand side, should any of you wish to use it.

The amigurumi project I mentioned in my last post may or may not be a belated Birthday present, it depends on just how belated it is when it is finally finished.

I’m itching to start something to work on in the evenings while watching the telly. I’m thinking squares of some sort to then stitch together as a cushion cover. I might look at combining a couple of patterns either as a single square, or as two contrasting squares across the project. I do have two blankets on the go at the mo’, but one I’m reluctant to continue with because I can’t get one of the yarns any more, and as of yet I can’t find a colour similar enough to use instead, and the other I’m not particularly enjoying anyway. Aaand I’ve just remembered another “squares” project that I could think of finishing. At least that would be one ticked off the to do list!

    You would think that with it being a Sunday, I would have had plenty of opportunities to post my intended Blogtober post. But no. I haven't even touched a computer today until now because there always seemed to be something else to do! And I don't suppose any of it was particularly important. Ever have days like that?     So instead of that post I'm going to do a Sunday Waffle. A quick ramble about the day and anything else that pops into the noggin as I type. Minus the swear words. Probably.       It was pretty grim when I got up, it looked like it had rained🌧️ all night, but the sun soon came out☀️ and it was bright till about early afternoon when the clouds started gathering. Somewhere across the road someone had lit a garden fire, smoke blowing up the road so at least this time we didn't get the stink of it.🔥     We did have a fab dinner at lunch time! Blogtober - Post 19! ❓ 🪝 📖 🌵

     Hello! I'd like to start by asking a few questions to those of you who have been using silicon-handled hooks longer than I have.     In the last few days I have notice that the hook I'm using most has developed a weird ickieness to the handle. It's not sticky or rough, just not right. My others don't feel like this. I even washed it the other day and if anything it made it slightly worse.      Could this be a reaction to the hand-cream I use in the evening to lessen the roughness of my fingers? Is there a way of fixing the issue, and is there a best way of storing and caring for this style of hook? Comments and solutions would be most appreciated.😀     I finished reading "The Tears Of The Salamander" Monday night, and tonight I will start reading something else. Interlude -Summer.

     I'll be honest, things are not great here at the mo'.       Quite apart from the fact that these last few hot weeks have turned my hands and fingers into wet and clammy nightmares, we've all had Covid. Yeah, after all this time, we finally get the bloody thing. The daft thing is my parents have been getting their boosters - the last one not long ago - whereas I haven't had one since the end of... 2021?, and if anything I fared better and have gotten over it quicker than they have! That's not to say any of us are exactly "right" at all: Mother still sounds like she has a cold, but doesn't, Father still has an awful bloody cough which is driving us all mad, and we're all still quite tired and head-achey.      And then there's the "other stuff" which I'm loath to go into because there really isn't much chance of any of that changing any time soon, if ever, and you never know who might end up reading all this.
