Box Of Delights.

    I thought you might like to see my Yarn Crafting Kit Box. It was sold as an art materials box but with a bit of ingenuity and Fablon, my Father was able to turn it into something much more exciting and useful!😄

    Most of the divisions were already there when he bought it, but he added a few more and even made the double sided inner tray, which makes for a very handy surface to place bits and bobs on, and the side with the lip especially good for anything that rolls! 

    He even put little magnets in the lid to hold it in place but, now I've put things in the lid, it quite often falls out. I don't really know what to do about it. I'm wondering if I should use velcro to hold things in place, or even fuzzy felt. Can you still get fuzzy felt?

    The top tray holds my hooks. Well, some of them, I've got a few more dotted about the place😉, but I think they're mostly here. I used to keep my knitting needles in one side, but when I needed somewhere to put my wooden hooks I decided to get the needles a separate case as I didn't want the hooks to get damaged. All the Tunisian hooks you see here were made by my Father and the short standard hooks are a set of bamboo ones from Lidl.

    The bottom of the box holds a variety of bits. I love the larger compartment because it gives me somewhere to keep my French Knitting Dollies (one in use elsewhere) as well as my KnitPro Tunisian Hooks (also one in use elsewhere). You'll have noticed some Christmassy looking bits too and they're there ready to be used so long as I get my finger out and do it!😣 I've got some other Christmas bits too and I'm thinking of putting them all in a Christmas Tin so that they're all together. It also means that I can put more stuff in the box!😜

 

    It's great having a kit box like this where most everything is kept in one place - at least I know where it all should be!😇😉 Where do you keep your bits?

     I'll be honest, things are not great here at the mo'.       Quite apart from the fact that these last few hot weeks have turned my hands and fingers into wet and clammy nightmares, we've all had Covid. Yeah, after all this time, we finally get the bloody thing. The daft thing is my parents have been getting their boosters - the last one not long ago - whereas I haven't had one since the end of... 2021?, and if anything I fared better and have gotten over it quicker than they have! That's not to say any of us are exactly "right" at all: Mother still sounds like she has a cold, but doesn't, Father still has an awful bloody cough which is driving us all mad, and we're all still quite tired and head-achey.      And then there's the "other stuff" which I'm loath to go into because there really isn't much chance of any of that changing any time soon, if ever, and you never know who might end up reading all this. Blogtober - Post 19! ❓ 🪝 📖 🌵

     Hello! I'd like to start by asking a few questions to those of you who have been using silicon-handled hooks longer than I have.     In the last few days I have notice that the hook I'm using most has developed a weird ickieness to the handle. It's not sticky or rough, just not right. My others don't feel like this. I even washed it the other day and if anything it made it slightly worse.      Could this be a reaction to the hand-cream I use in the evening to lessen the roughness of my fingers? Is there a way of fixing the issue, and is there a best way of storing and caring for this style of hook? Comments and solutions would be most appreciated.😀     I finished reading "The Tears Of The Salamander" Monday night, and tonight I will start reading something else. I'm just not sure what yet, it may end up a point and grab situation. Whatever it is I probably won't have read it before and I'll let you know what I choose.      Yesterday I mentio

       Blogtober is upon us And I really have to say, I'm not sure I can manage A new post everyday. Typing here and typing there It can be quite a chore, Finding summat interesting And trying not to bore. What with edit this and copy that And insert image here, It's like reading a crochet pattern Whose instructions aren't quite clear.
